This unique and legendary
jewel is a " heavenly seed " , of origin mythical . The secret: a grain
of sand penetrates into the fragile flesh of the oyster, gives lustre
it cover the intruder and give birth of the real pearl of Tahiti.
From the 60s, " perliculteurs " knew how to master all the process of
growth of the oyster with black lips called Pinctada Margaritifera. After
several months of dumping in the waters of the lagoon, one selects the
most beautiful and the healthiest oysters. Three years are needed so that
the oyster develops and becomes adult The oyster is then prepared for
the transplant pearling.
The transplanter half-opens the oyster then introduces delicately into
the breast of this one a piece of secretary tissue of mother-of-pearl
called the transplant. The nucleus comes then (small ball from 5 to 9
mm which is made from a shell of fresh water). Then, the oyster finds
the lagoon for duration minimum of 18 months. It is going to heal and
to constitute layers of mother-of-pearl around this nucléus.
About 70 % only oysters will throw back the nucléus, 30 % will give pearls
only one or two of which will be perfect. Contrary to the bad copies,
every pearl is unique due to its shape,
its colour, the small imperfections
which make an object of a big rarity of it .
The natural pearls
of Tahiti of colour present a whole palette of nuances provoked by the
game of the light on the surface. The beauty of a pearl comes also of
its polish, of its orient
(effect of iridescence) and finally of its purity.
The black pearl of Tahiti has receipt in 30 years its letters of nobility
on the international plan. The impossible culture somewhere else that
in Polynésie's lagoons, represents only 1 % of pearls produced in the
world, what makes a luxurious jewel of it whom every woman dreams to wear
around the neck.
